Download tracking Google Analytics
One of the most popular features of our Google Analytics plugin is automatic download tracking. We automatically track some of the most common document types with our plugin. Here's a list of all the document extensions we track:

- jpg

- ppt
- pps

- txt
- vsd
- vxd
- js
- css
- rar
- exe
- wma
- mov
- avi
- wmv
- mp3
- dmg
It is important to note that these extensions will not be tracked if they are hidden behind a redirect.
How will downloads show up in my Google Analytics dashboards?
We track downloads with virtual pageviews. These can be found in your content reports. The virtual pageviews are setup as like this:
/download/{documentname}
